چکیده
Nowadays, the world is experiencing an energy crisis due to extensive globalization and industrialization. Most of sources renewable are getting depleted, thus, there urge locate alternative routes produce efficiently. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) a favorable technology that utilizes electroactive microorganisms acting as biocatalyst at anode compartment converting organic matter present in sewage water for bioelectricity production simultaneously treating wastewater. However, certain limitations with typical stand-alone MFC efficient recovery its practical implementation, including low power output high cost associated treatment. There various modifications carried out on eliminating MFC. Examples such modification include integration microbial capacitive deionization technology, forward osmosis anaerobic digester, constructed wetland technology. This review describes integrated systems along their potential application industrial scale wastewater treatment, biofuel generation, production. As result, MFCs existing urgently needed address cost, fouling, durability, sustainability-related issues while also improving grade treatment received by effluent.

متن کاملTreatment of Oil Wastewater and Electricity Generation by Integrating Constructed Wetland with Microbial Fuel Cell
Conventional oil sewage treatment methods can achieve satisfactory removal efficiency, but energy consumption problems during the process of oil sewage treatment are worth attention. The integration of a constructed wetland reactor and a microbial fuel cell reactor (CW-MFC) to treat oil-contaminated wastewater, compared with a microbial fuel cell reactor (MFC) alone and a constructed wetland re...
متن کاملMicrobial fuel cells for wastewater treatment.
Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are emerging as promising technology for the treatment of wastewaters. The potential energy conversion efficiencies are examined. The rates of energy recovery (W/m3 reactor) are reviewed and evaluated. Some recent data relating to potato-processing wastewaters and a hospital wastewater effluent are reported. Finally, a set of process configurations in which MFCs coul...
